The tunnel under the Koninginneplein liberates Venlo from a cumbersome barrier between the railway station and the city center. Through traffic will be diverted via a meticulously detailed underpass which is finished with white enamel plating.
Several elements on ground level refer to the history of this place, where once the fortifications of the city were located. The glass panels in railings show the ramparts as well as the approaching army, while the concrete parapet shows the years of numerous battles that were fought in the history of Venlo.
